When using Word in Office 2011 for Mac, you can apply table styles to change the cells’ appearance. If you can’t find an existing one that meets your needs, you can create new table styles from within the Style dialog. Take these steps:
In Word 2011 for Mac, choose Format→Style.
The Style dialog opens.
Click the New button.
